Day 16 - Barseback Golf Club (Ocean Course)

Addit to yesterday: forgot to add the scores. Sean had 36 points and I had 33 points 😀

Usual start to the day, breakfast in the hotel then 20 min drive to Barseback Golf Resort

This course is again highly rated in Sweden, we originally saw it on our "No Laying Up" boys trip to Scandinavia, so we again thank them for the insight.

The young guy in the pro shop was so lovely, in fact everyone we have met here has been a delight. They say Hej Hej as they pass (Hello) and as soon as they know we are Aussies they say -"oh, that is so far away" and then want to know more. Almost all of them speak very good English and most restaurants have menu's in both languages.

Tee time 9:20am. Ocean Course is supposed to have 6 x Links styles holes, 6 x Forest holes and 6 x Ocean holes. The fairways were again immaculate, you could sleep on them they are so lush. The greens were faster than yesterday but I could not get the feel of them today and did not putt well at all. There are 2 courses here, Pines is the other one.

1st Hole
Saw a little brown squirrel running around - almost the only wildlife we have seen

Dogs allowed on course, lead tied to golf bag

Finally see the Ocean - 7th Hole

There was a half way house at the 7th/8th, before a lovely Par 3 over water. I could actually see the round building next to our hotel in Copenhagen across the water 🏨

The weather was forecast to be light cloud and 22 degree's, and that is exactly what we got. Very warm when the sun was out.

The pine trees are all stripped of lower branches so people can find their balls easily and speed of play is not slowed (a bit like Christchurch GC)
The tree's leaning as the wind comes of the ocean to their left

The course was definitely another worthwhile visit. We both ended up on 30 points, yet another tied game. Went into the clubhouse for lunch - beef and brussel sprouts (yum!)

Former Solheim Cup event venue

We headed back to the hotel and the traffic came to a sudden stop. We started hearing sirens and our GPS Wayz announced their was a serious accident ahead. Immediately sirens are heard the traffic pulls over to either side of the road leaving a clear path for the emergency service vehicles down the middle - so good to see (not the accident of course, it was between a truck and a bus, fingers crossed no one was hurt)

I have to say that the highways here are excellent - 2 lanes each way and EVERYONE drives in the slow lane unless they are overtaking. The trucks, and there are a lot of them, are actually speed limited to 100km (unlike ours that over take you at 120km/hr), so when the speed limit is 120km/hr you can pass them easily. Today's accident had us at a standstill for about 45 mins but it was the only time since arrival here that we have had to stop for traffic.

As we had a big lunch we only wanted a snack tonight so stopped at Lidl for a quick shop. Back to the hotel, rewatched the No Laying Up episodes on Youtube for Bro Hoff Slott GC and Baresback GC- interesting to see these course through someone else's eyes.
