Day 6 - Lofoten Links Golf Course

We left Evenes at about 7am for our 3.5hr drive to Lofoten Links. The scenery was spectacular. There was a lot of roadworks but they have a great system and the traffic flowed well most of the time. 10 tunnels and 5 bridges later...... we stopped briefly at the Kiwi Supermarket for some supplies and then onto the course.

We first began the idea of coming here after watching the No Laying Up boys on their Scandinavian golf adventure, the seed was sewn and here we are. You would never believe we were in the artic circle today, the weather was very warm with just a light breeze. So much for all the winter clothes I packed, didn't even need a jumper today.

They even have a solar panel golf cart which I have never seen before

I really can't explain just how picturesque this place is and sooooooo quiet as well. The scenery is amazing, everywhere you look there is a beautiful vista. So we teed off.....

There are 4 tee blocks to choose from. The rough is very very thick and as soon as your ball goes off the fairway it is very hard to find - at least there were no snakes!! Today was a learning day, new to the course we sometimes found out the hard way the best or worst place to go!!.

2nd hole - you hit out onto a little island

I started with a par and finished with a par. I had 32 points - 3 wipes on the back 9 ruined a great score, but all lessons learned today should help tomorrow. Sean didn't play so well - hitting through the fairways is a big no here as you just can't find your ball. He will come good tomorrow.

We finished our round and were given the keys to our Lodge 7 - there is a communal room and 3 bedrooms in each lodge. Again the rooms are teeny tiny but that seems to be the way over here.

We met our housemates - a young couple from Switzerland. They were both a bit under the weather so we left them to it. Managed to do a load of washing then off for dinner. Sat with a really nice couple from Stockholm who were out on a hiking holiday but couldn't resist a game of golf and a night in one of the lodges - great company.

What a fantastic day, can't wait to do it all again tomorrow
