Day 20 - Great Northern Golf Course

Very early start as it was almost a 2 hour drive out to Kerteminde to play Great Northern Golf Course. Yet another great bridge to cross on the way - $55 toll each way!!

Tee time 9am, as we had a cart he suggested we go at 8:50 ahead of the next group which were 2 walkers. Amazing place, the architecture of the clubhouse is awesome, a little like the Sydney Opera House. The first person we met at Reception was an Aussie - Daniel. He has lived in Denmark for 15 years but originally came from Perth then Brisbane. He said he went back in February this year and played RQ while he was there.

The accomodation rooms are tucked into the hillside, like little hobbit houses. The whole place is immaculate. I don't think I have ever played a golf course that was so well tended. The little robot mowers even had the rough cut into a checkerboard pattern - superb.

Rough cut in checkerboard pattern, all done robotically - looks superb

Ist hole headed up the big hill, bunkers always in play here. Fully bitumen cart paths, 1st cut of rough was dark green and quite thick but not hard to hit out of. Cold start at 9 degree's but finished at 13 degree's - would have taken the jumper off if we had any more holes to play. They said that this course rarely gets days like today, sunshine and light winds.

18th - Par 5 with Island Green

I had 22 points on the front 9 then lost it a bit on the back to finish with 35 points, Sean didn't have such a good front 9 and finished with 29 points. Very hard to see in the pics, but it truely was a beautiful course and we thoroughly enjoyed our game. Finished in 3.5 hrs. Watched the 2 guys behind us come in at 4.5 hours a we finished lunch 😀

Had lunch in the dining room, the whole place is quite upmarket, there is a spa for anyone not wanting to play golf. The DP World tour comes here next year for the Denmark Open, we shall be watching for sure.

Headed back to Copenhagen, another $55 bridge toll for the Great Belt Bridge, but we had a good run.

Stopped at the huge shopping centre across the canal from us to get a couple of things. Back in apartment watching the neighbours across the canal sunbathing - it is currently 16 degree's !!

Moving tomorrow to play The Scandinavian - there are 2 courses and we are staying there tomorrow night.
